Serenity at it’s finest

"From the moment we drove down the driveway on this property, we were in love!

We have stayed at Tradewinds 5 times now, and is our favourite place in the island.

Rachel and Ian met us at the airport with beautiful big smiles, and escorted us to the property. There are 4 beautiful cottages, and each one is meticulously decorated to make you feel right at home. There is a large open plan area with a kitchen that has everything you need to make any meal, a dining table, and an inviting lounge room. Off the lounge area is a large bedroom with king size bed and large ensuite bathroom. Our favourite thing to do is just sit on the balcony with a glass of wine, take in the serenity of the beautiful grounds, or even play with resident labrador Bentley, when he’s around. Rachel and Ian and their girls are so friendly, and are a wealth of information about the island. We can’t wait to return."

Great features for people with mobility problems

"Do you have mobility problems, then Tradewinds is the place for you.

The living areas & bedroom were all easily accessible as was the large back verandah. There was a great bathroom with the door wide enough for me to use my walking frame & plenty of grab rails. Truely an accessible bathroom. It was great having proper features.

Rachael made a point of checking I had everything I needed.

It was a great relaxing holiday".

Restful Setting

"This was our second visit to Norfolk Island, and we purposely chose to stay again at Tradewinds. This time we brought friends with us (accommodated in the same cottage). We all love the quiet rural setting, and the large cottage - plenty of room for all. As other reviewers noted, it is lovely to sit out on the verandah and relax in the quietness.

Thank you to Rachel for being a wonderful host. Although it is away from the main centre, for us that is most welcome as it is quieter. With a car it really is not far to all the attractions -we chose these to suit our interests. If we went back again we would not hesitate to stay at Tradewinds again".

Simply the best!

"What can I say about our stay at Trade Winds? It was wonderful! Rachel, Ian and the girls made us feel so comfortable and at home. The cottage was spotless and fitted with everything we needed in a home away from home. I travelled with my husband and sister, sharing a cottage. We each had our own bedroom (at opposite sides of the cottage) with our own ensuite.

We were welcomed with home grown, fruit and home laid eggs, along with some freshly baked sugar cookies.

Our beautiful hosts were so accommodating and ready to help us with anything we needed. They helped us to orientate quickly to island life.

The quietness of the location was just wonderful, and just what we needed to unwind and truly relax.

Rachel, we just can't thank you enough for wonderful week on Norfolk Island".

Wonderful accommodation and experience

We absolutely loved our week long stay at Trade Winds. Beautiful, tasteful and spotlessly clean accommodation with everything you could possibly need, and lots of extras that are just nice to have (like books and games).

Rachel our host was welcoming (meets you at the airport and takes you to your car), provided a welcome hamper and some daily treats, and was so friendly and helpful.

Massive rooms and ensuites, super comfy beds, and a lovely verandah to enjoy the rural setting.

We appreciated being given a Norfolk Island mobile phone for our stay for contacting local services if needed. The cottages are just out of 'town' so extra peaceful with beautiful surrounds, but nothing is far away on the Island. Highly recommended.

Da best

Our 8th visit to Norfolk and first in "winter". Accommodation in our favourite cottage (Betsy Young) spacious, peaceful, warm and welcoming. Delightful host Rachel - nothing too much trouble. We loved her home cooked meal on arrival. Thoroughly recommend Tradewinds and Norfolk - always plenty to do/see or just relax.

Paradise on Norfolk Island!

“…Norfolk Island itself lived up to everything we had been told and researched. A beautiful place with so much history, and beautiful scenery and amazing bays for swimming. Such friendly locals, and a place that everyone should visit in their lifetime. We will be back again and we will most certainly be staying at Trade Winds”.

Autumn on Norfolk Island is my favorite secret, dear readers! At Trade Winds Country Cottages, I've seen countless seniors discover its magic from March to May. For Grey Nomads fleeing NSW/QLD winters, this subtropical paradise offers warm days (20-25°C) without summer humidity, aligning with the Grey Gap Year phenomenon prioritising experiences over inheritance. With fewer crowds, it's prime for slow travel and JOMO, especially for over-70s seeking seclusion.
